ATHENS 6 Oct 2006 To Steens Not just the sweetness of the words you say to me Your body's warming touch each day for me The way you keep the world at bay for me Give me the reason to come home. Or the strength I feel the times you pray for me Or tears of laughter when you play with me Or whispered words that save the day for me So I don't feel alone Nor just the numbing work you do for me Devoted years of effort true to me Shared thoughts and feelings passing through to me While our life's mystery has grown But all these things that mean the world to me A magic banner full of love unfurled to me The miracle which brought this girl to me Are why today I write this poem.
